Limitations of Human Resource Planning

Human resource planning is the process of determining the number of people an organisation requires in terms of both quantity and quality. Human resource planning is the starting point for all human resource management tasks. As a result, we may argue that human resource planning is the most important/important action in human resource management.

Although HRP is a very beneficial strategy, it does have certain drawbacks that can be described as follows:

1. Uncertainty about the Future

Any country's future is unpredictable, as political, cultural, and technical developments occur on a daily basis. This has an impact on employment. As a result, the organisation may need to hire or fire employees. As a result, HRP can only be used as a guideline. We can't put too much faith in it and act in accordance with it.

2. Top Management's Conservative Attitude

Many top executives take a conservative stance and are unwilling to adapt. HRP entails either appointing or appointing. As a result, implementing HRP in an organisation becomes extremely challenging because top management does not support the decisions of other departments.

3. Surplus Personnel Issues

HRP provides a clear-out option for excess employees, such as termination, layoffs, and VRS. However, when certain individuals leave the company, the psyche of the remaining employees is affected, and they begin to feel uncomfortable, stressed out, and lose faith in the company. This is a weakness of HRP, in that it does not provide an alternate solution, such as retraining, so that employees do not have to be fired.

4. It takes a lot of Time

HRP gathers information on staff demand and supply from all departments. This data is meticulously gathered, and each and every job is taken into account. As a result, the action takes a long time.

5. Expensive Methodology

The solution given by the HRP procedure is costly. For example, in order to conduct out activities such as VRS, overtime, and so on, the corporation must spend a significant amount of money. As a result, we might conclude that the procedure is costly.
