Personnel Psychology


Personnel psychology is a subset of psychology, which is a discipline of study. Applied Psychology is the application of psychological knowledge to the solution of issues in other disciplines of study. As a result, personnel psychology entails the application of psychological concepts to personnel management.

Personnel psychology is mostly used by Human Resource Professionals in the areas of job analysis and selection procedures (with the use of biodata, personal interview, aptitude tests and multi-media computerised tests).


Personnel Management, Human Resource Management, and Personnel Psychology Have Some Similarities

The overarching objective of these three notions is the common thread that binds them together. They're all aimed toward increasing productivity, with Personnel Management developing the finest pro-personnel policies to ensure their (workers') loyalty and long-term interest. Human Resource Management, on the other hand, guarantees that workers/employees are adequately mobilised and motivated in order for the organization's overall objectives to be met to the satisfaction of its customers and management.

Personnel psychology, when combined with Human Resource Management, brings expertise in personnel recruitment, selection, training, remuneration, and benefits, employee relations, negotiations, and personnel information systems to bear.
